WHAT IS A BUSINESS DESIGN JAM?
Business Design Jam is a design thinking workshop, combined with Business Model Generation and Lean Startup Methodologies to create sustainable business models based on the human-centered design principles. In a Business Design Jam, we improvise without extensive preparation just like musicians do in a jam session. The idea is to come up with products/services grounded in viable business models in just a few hours.
The format was originally developed for corporations and not for greenfield entrepreneurs.
We prefer having a mix of designers, developers, business consultants, marketing managers and an Intrapreneur that acts on behalf of the corporation. We make sure, each team has at least one team member from each discipline. At sign up the participants can decide what role they would like to participate within the team.
The Intrapreneurs pitch their idea and the teams are formed. Once the teams are created they start discussing the business model and refining the idea. It is a pretty intense agenda that lasts for the whole day.
We include the use of the business model canvas to have an overview of the whole business, also other tools such as persona grids, prototyping tools, lego serious play, storytelling, role play to help them bring the concept to life.
The session ends with a 5 slide deck presentation and a “decompress session” with some beverages and other refreshments.
