LOCATION BASED NOTIFICATION SOLUTION
BRIGHTPOINT was a real-time internal notification solution for events. With the use of iBeacons, users could be notified about extra activities, discounts, session changes, ticket releases, spontaneous gatherings… etc based on their location around the venue. Using iBeacons, Brightpoint delivers proximity-based and context-aware messages.
Currently, most attendees rely on an event’s provided app to plan and maximize their experience. It’s the most common way to personalize their schedules, prioritize their time, and get directions of where they need to go. iBeacons help enhance the experience by adding a layer of real-time updates, to reach the right attendees based on their location. This helps to manage inevitable scenarios such as session changes or last-minute ticket releases, by pushing notifications to nearby attendees making it easy to communicate these changes in the most relevant way.
ABOUT iBEACON TECHNOLOGY
An iBeacon is a Bluetooth low-energy (BLE) wireless technology device that their identifier with a unique id (UUID). Using a mobile app the UUID can be picked up and consequently the proximity of nearby mobile devices.
It can be used among other things to:
- Determine the device’s physical location
- Track customers
- Trigger a location-based action on the device (for example: check-in on social media or push notifications)
There are several versions of the iBeacon in the market which can vary according to range, capability, durability…etc.

BUSINESS HYPOTHESIS
Using iBeacon technology, it is possible to create a based location notification integrated onto a trade show app and use it to notify visitors about internal events, special offers, off-site events… etc. The tradeshow organizer will offer a basic software access to the exhibitors as part of the exhibitor’s package and charge additional fees for usage. Thus creating an extra source of revenue for the venue.
BUSINESS MODEL
The organizer will charge an initial fee to have access to the Brightpoint admin console with 3 messages, as part of the conference package. Any additional message will be charged extra. The payments can be done through the web app using PayPal or credit card.

The Brightpoint Manager featured:
- Campaign management: Send text, URLs and multimedia through customisable card layouts.
- Customer targeting: Target customers based on personal characteristics such as age, gender, CRM Data…etc
- Digital analytics: Track the overall campaign performance by tracking rules triggered.
- Visitor analytics: Data about offline customer behavior such as new vs. returning visitors and user dwell time.
- User activity tracking: Visitor behavior and response to campaigns for fine-tuning.

iBEACONS FOR THE VENUE
The exhibition grounds need to be iBeacon ready. For that purpose, two different packages with iBeacons were created. One big package for the venue (on demand) and a smaller package for the exhibitors(5/10 iBeacons).
Each iBeacon registered and identified to be used with the Brightpoint Admin (Campaign Manager). Each iBeacon can send signals up to a distance of 70 meters.

BRIGHTPOINT ADD-ON FOR APPS
Most trade shows have already an app available for their visitors. Instead of creating an app from scratch, Brightpoint is an extra module that can be added to any native IOS or Android App. The trade show should make their visitors aware of turning on the Bluetooth on their phones to get the instant notifications.
